KOOSKIA -- When Jason Schuster left his job in Lewiston a few short months ago and headed to Colorado, he had no idea where his path would lead him.

"I knew it was a leap of faith and God was leading me on this journey," the young man smiled.

Schuster, a 1999 graduate of Clearwater Valley High School, has been back in his hometown for Christmas break and brought with him a newly recorded CD, "I Believe."

After years of loving music, Schuster made the decision in August to pursue it full time and move to Denver where he would have the opportunity to work with other musicians and have an opportunity to not only hone in on his skills but also record.

That decision led him to writing more songs and ultimately recording an entire CD. The CD features all but three songs written by Schuster and includes "I Believe," "With This Ring," and "Thank You, Dad."

Schuster was able to sell his album at His Story Christian Gift Center in Lewiston (where it is currently still available) and at The Kooskia Cafe during Christmas break. In all, he sold more than 300 copies of "I Believe."

"I'm really amazed at the support I have and pleased," smiled the soft-spoken Schuster. "I am so grateful for this opportunity."

Schuster said he has some interest from a major record label and is also involved in a song writing contest out of Nashville.

"Things just seem to be happening very quickly, so even during those times when I may get frustrated and feel like I'm waiting and waiting, I just need to look back and realize it has only been a few months," he emphasized.

Schuster, the son of Mark and Jo Schuster of Kooskia, has been making music since a very early age in school, band, choir and church. During high school he has played piano at The Old Opera House Theater in Kooskia for its annual Christmas shows and will come full circle in March.

Schuster, along with area performer Kymberlee, will perform at The Old Opera House on March 23 and 24.

"I'm excited to perform here in my hometown," he said. "I have so many wonderful friends and such great community support that it is really important to me to share my talents here."

Reservations for the March shows can be made now by calling Graves GreenThumb Nursery at 926-0094.
